In -Class the Week of 2/9

English 10-4 B/D Days, Block 2
English 10-3 A/C Days, Block 4

The following activities took place in class this past week leading up to the Presidents' Week recess:

1) Concluded Paragraph Proofreading Practices on "Sir Ernest Shackleton."

2) Completed the in-class reading of The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare. As we read, students responded to a Student Guide with content based questions for each act and identified examples of Shakespeare's use of specific literary elements.

3) Responded to assigned short answer questions related to the reading from the class text book, The Language of Literature.

4) Updated the class (and individual story map graphic organizers with which we identified the literary elements and action at work in the play.

4) Sort Card decks were updated to include terms defined on the Julius Caesar Student Guides.

5) A test on The Tragedy of Julius Caesar was administered. The assessment included both Multiple Choice questions and an SADDR graphic organizer in which students were assigned a character and asked to analyze the elements of characterization used to bring him/her "alive" in the play. Additionally, all unit work was collected for a comprehensive test grade.
Homework for Completion Over the Recess:
1) None :)
Remember, it is YOUR responsibility to see the teacher PRIOR to Advisement and arrange for a pass when you need assistance with any home/classwork.
