In-Class Today: 11/14 & 11/17

English 10-3 Day A, Block 4
English 10-4 Day B, Block 2


The following activities took place in class today:

1) Sharing of Anthem Chapter I Reading Journals.

2) Anthem, Chapter 1 Quiz.

3) Distribute and assign students to define five (5) specific Anthem terminology from Chapter I to aid in comprehension: we/us, Council of Vocations, Palace of Detention, Palace of the World Council, and Equality 7-2521

4) Set-up Anthem Reading Journal Entry 2 for Chapter II, pages 38-51, on loose-leaf with the appropriate "Heading" and define the following pre-reading vocabulary (page numbers are in quotes for context)as "Preparing": ploughed (38), deigned (39), taut (40), Eugenics (41), triumph (43), vice (47), virtue (47)

5) Began reading Chapter II of Anthem by Ayn Rand in class.

6) After reading Chapter II continue the reading journal entry by summarizing the events in the asigned reading as "Recapping," and then move on to "Connecting", "Pondering" and "Savoring" as assigned.

Homework Due Next Class: Finish reading Chapter II of Anthem and complete a Reading Journal Entry for the chapter.
Remember, it is YOUR responsibility to see the teacher PRIOR to Advisement and arrange for a pass when you need assistance with any home/classwork.
